The American Bicycle Association is proud to announce the 2010 ABA BMX TV Airdates on the Versus network. The ABA kicked off the 2010 season opener in Reno, Nevada, filming the USAC Junior Development, Junior Elite men and women as well as all the Elite women and AA Pro/Elite men action. The next event to be featured on Versus is the Gator Nationals on the freshly rebuilt Oldsmar BMX track located in Oldsmar, Florida. In addition to filming the 2012, 2016, and 2020 Olympic hopefuls the ABA is also featuring several amateur races to highlight what the sport of BMX racing is all about.
The shows will air on Versus every Wednesday starting February 3, 2010 re-airing the action packed one hour ABA Grand Nationals show from Tulsa, Oklahoma, known as “The Greatest Race on Earth”. The shows will continue through August 4, 2010 every Wednesday featuring previously aired shows from 2009 and eight new shows, four from Reno, Nevada, and four from Oldsmar, Florida (see schedule below).
The ABA will also be launching an aggressive marketing campaign publicizing the Versus show. Posters will be mailed to over 4,000 bike shops nationwide, every BMX Track in the country, as well as other distribution networks to be named later.
Versus will also be adding an ABA BMX page to their website featuring rider bios, video clips, ABA Track Directory, and information on how to start racing. The ABA has also provided to all ABA Track Operators an edited: 30 second commercial that can be placed in the show through individual cable providers for each local market.
American Bicycle Association CEO, B.A. Anderson stated “It is exciting to offer this level of promotion for our sport. We strive everyday to provide better marketing tools to over 250 ABA sanctioned BMX tracks and this level of exposure will only make our Track operators’ job easier to gain a new riders interest.” He went on to add, “Versus has over 80 million homes, so with the consistency of airdates it will be easier than ever before to offer someone the opportunity to check out the sport we all love so much. It will be as simple as saying…hey check out Versus every Wednesday and then come to the track this weekend”
